Our goal is to develop and inspire leadership in our community.

The future of Nelson County will be determined by Leadership. Success in meeting the challenges before us depends on the active involvement of informed, dedicated citizens who have the ability and desire to assume positions of leadership.

Leadership Nelson County is a program designed to identify the existing and emerging leaders in our community and to prepare them to deal with today’s complex issues. These individuals learn to embrace the idea that leadership is about responsibility to their community, not about rank and titles. This program consists of full-day sessions once a month for 9 months, beginning with an overnight retreat and concluding with a graduation ceremony.

Leadership Nelson County program requires a two (2) year commitment. The first year as a student and the second year as a leader of the incoming class. We have had many wonderful people pass through our program since it’s inception in 1989. We would love to include you!
